I am a huge fan of creatively wrapped Christmas presents as I have previously proven with our Christmas wrapping guide. Of course, I was super excited to hear about the new Christmas special by Bikini Berlin that is all about artfully decorated presents. Following their tradition of previous seasons , they have once again installed a beautiful big wrapping station in the middle of the concept shopping mall where you can have your presents wrapped or get crafty and wrap them yourselves. Once again they invited a local artist to not only design the special edition wrapping papers but also create an entire photo set that transforms the designs from the papers into a big colorful world to step into and take pictures in. I got to meet him at Bikini Berlin right inside the set he designed and got to talk to him about his inspirations and designs.

For a cross-space installation, they have created a special Bikini Berlin gift paper. This is presented as a meter-long, floating band of paper strips both in front of the panorama window as well as in the entrance areas and with its colors and patterns create an artistic Christmas atmosphere. The design does not correspond to a classic pattern. Instead, the gift paper has a striking function. Inspired by pop-art, bright colors and striking patterns are drawn through the entire design. From the 26th of November to the 24th of December, you can get your purchased gifts wrapped for free at the pop-up station on the ground floor of the Bikini Berlin, or simply pack it yourself - with three different motifs to choose from.

In the shopping mall that snakes between the original orthogonal post-war buildings that house the hotel and offices, a carefully chosen community of independent local makers as well as coveted designer brands inhabit raw concrete shop spaces and pop-up shops. Known for their distinctive use of colour and pattern, the duo have marked out the dedicated gift wrapping space with an angular architectural set made up of over 40 metres of specially designed paper. Revolving around glossy gold parcels, some brought to life with cartoon eyeballs, the papers feature still life compositions that layer the gold parcels with polka dots and stripes of varying scales and contrasting colours.
