Delayed ejaculation — sometimes called impaired ejaculation — is a condition in which it takes an extended period of sexual stimulation for men to reach sexual climax and release semen from the penis ejaculate. Some men with delayed ejaculation are unable to ejaculate at all. Delayed ejaculation can be temporary or a lifelong problem. Possible causes of delayed ejaculation include certain chronic health conditions, surgeries and medications. Treatment for delayed ejaculation depends on the underlying cause.
Delayed orgasm and anorgasmia are associated with significant sexual dissatisfaction. A focused medical history can shed light on the potential etiologies; which include: medications, penile sensation loss, endocrinopathies, penile hyperstimulation and psychological etiologies, amongst others. Delayed orgasm DO and anorgasmia AO have been described as one end of a spectrum of orgasm timing disorders with the other end being premature ejaculation 1. DO has also been termed retarded orgasm, inhibited orgasm, retarded ejaculation and or inhibited ejaculation. We believe that DO is the correct term as some men fail to ejaculate for medical reasons but still experience orgasm retroperitoneal surgery, radical prostatectomy.

Delayed ejaculation is a man's inability for or persistent difficulty in achieving orgasm , despite typical sexual desire and sexual stimulation. Generally, a man can reach orgasm within a few minutes of active thrusting during sexual intercourse , whereas a man with delayed ejaculation either does not have orgasms at all or cannot have an orgasm until after prolonged intercourse which might last for 30—45 minutes or more. It is the least common of the male sexual dysfunctions, and can result as a side effect of some medications. In one survey, eight per cent of men reported being unable to achieve orgasm over a two-month period or longer in the previous year.
Delayed orgasm refers to the experience of not being able to reach orgasm following adequate sexual stimulation within a time that is pleasurable or agreeable to you.
