It was a new school year, but the torment that started the year before when she transferred from a Catholic school escalated into a gang assault. Within an hour, her daughter was back in class sitting next to the students who attacked her. She said the assault was premeditated, and the leaders tried to recruit others who refused to take part. She had had enough. Gaffey said that in extreme cases, according to the Tucker handbook, students who hit or physically harm others could receive in-school or out-of-school suspension. Two of the girls involved lost recess for a few days and were ordered to stay away from the girl during recess and at lunch. Gaffey said she has also started sleepwalking.

The research project explores how Greek lesbian teachers construct their subjectivities and negotiate their sexuality in relation to the social contexts in which they are situated. In looking for answer to the main research question, I employed the qualitative method of semi-structured interviews. Since there was no previous research on Greek lesbian teachers, this semi-structured design allowed me to focus on particular issues surrounding the women and their teaching roles, whilst simultaneously allowing space for free interaction and spontaneity.
