A cluster headache is an uncommon type of headache. It is one-sided head pain that may involve tearing of the eyes, a droopy eyelid, and a stuffy nose. Attacks last from 15 minutes to 3 hours, occur daily or almost daily for weeks or months. The attacks are separated by pain-free periods that last at least 1 month or longer. Cluster headaches may be confused with other common types of headaches such as migraines , sinus headache, and tension headache.

Kristen Kendrick. Of all the aches and pains I spend my days investigating as a family doctor, none seem to be as anxiety-provoking as a headache. And that's often true, both for patients wondering, "Could this be something dangerous? Though we're all one Google search away from assuming a worst-case scenario when a headache strikes, the odds are overwhelmingly in our favor here. Research shows that the vast majority of headaches are what's known medically as "primary," meaning they're not the result of some other underlying condition. In other words, your headache is unlikely to be caused by a serious or life-threatening problem.

The pain can come in varying degrees, ranging from a dull throb to a sharp and severe stabbing pain. A toothache at night, where it affects your ability to sleep, can be a worrying and horrible experience. If a toothache lasts longer than 1 or 2 days then we recommend you seek a dentist as it is likely to only get worse.
Flashing lights, floaters, and eye pain — these are just a few of the warning signs that should prompt you to see your eye doctor. Of these cases, about 80 percent of them could have been avoided or cured. A checkup can be particularly helpful in detecting progressive eye conditions, such as glaucoma, a common condition that typically has few symptoms in its early stages.
